Search transforms the merely aural experience of hearing music
into something extrasensory. Their original compositions, based on motifs,
characters, and organic thought, create new worlds of color, depth, and
tangibility. Their music becomes a theater of sound, taking listeners on a trip
of the imagination, across time and space where all things are possible.
After being educated at the Berklee College of Music, the New School, and
City College, These musicians toured extensively, playing with legendary
bands in a widerange of venues. They’ve performed at the JVC Newport Jazz
Festival, Tanglewood, the Boston Blues Festival, the Hartford Jazz Festival,
And NYC’s Vision Series. Some have been featured on the PBS special
“Autumn Eve,” a tribute to the late Woody Herman.
Here in New York they’ve played at Birdland, Lincoln Center, The Bowery
Poetry Club, The Waldorf Astoria, The Living Theater, Smalls, the stone,
Tribes Gallery, Via Della Pace, The Bitter End, Royals Downtown, and the Valez
Cultural Center for the Arts.
They have also performed in Boston at Symphony Hall, the Regatta bar,
Ryles, and Scullers. They left their hearts – and a wealth of music – at San
Francisco’s Yoshi’s and Sophia’s. They’ve played the MGM Grand in Vegas.
The Kodak Complex in Los Angeles. They have toured the Caribbean and
Europe on Royal Caribbean and Carnival cruise ships.
Their band mates have included Joe Lovano, Michael Buble, Natalie Cole,
Charnette Moffett, Eric McPherson, Patti Austin, Bobby Short, Ben Vereen,
Dave Creamer, Mark Dresser, Tim Haggins, Kenny Wessell, Roy Campbell
Jr., and the Cab Calloway Orchestra.
Recently, the band has come under the tutelage of legendary instrumentalist
and composer Ornette Coleman, who has said of Search, “It's natural music and it
swings...it sounds like you guys are on the case.”
